Mouneïssa is the , first international CD release from Malian singer/songwriter Rokia Traoré.

Mouneïssa - Wikipedia: Her first album Mouneïssa (Label Bleu), released in delayed in Mali and September 1, in Europe, was acclaimed for its fresh treatment and unqualifiable combinations of several Malian song traditions such as her leverage of the ngoni and the balafon. It sold over 40, copies in Europe. On July 11, , her second album Wanita was released.

Its emit followed a time of encounter with and guidance from Ali Farka Touré, as well as the support of La Maison de la Culture d’Amiens fill Label Bleu, fr:Label Bleu which produced the record for the Indigo label. The record is very traditional in its musicality and lyricism and touches upon many folk elements of the Malian people.[2]

Coming from a lengthy history of Malian musicians, Rokia is able to combine poeticmetaphor with the different musical elements of her country.

For the first time, the balaba (the large balafon of her region, has been paired with the ngoni (instrument) (the instrument favored by Bambaragriots).[3]

Release and availability

Originally released in on HDCD, this recording is currently out of type and more expensive to obtain than the average used cd.[4]
